Cincinnati Eye Institute Specialist Honored for Contributions in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery
Jeffrey Nerad, M.D., FACS, an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery specialist at Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI), received the prestigious Lester T. Jones Surgical Anatomy Award at the annual American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) held in November in New Orleans, La.
Dr. Nerad is considered an international expert in treating orbital diseases, and performs a wide variety of procedures for drooping eyelids, watery eyes, as well as laser and surgical correction of cosmetic facial problems. Before joining CEI in 2009, Dr. Nerad was the Director of Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery Service at the University of Iowa, as well as a professor of ophthalmology and otolaryngology. In addition to his clinical work, he has served on the board of directors of ASOPRS and was president in 2010. He has received numerous honors including the Honor and Senior Honor and Life Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nerad has lectured in more than 40 countries and has published more than 100 scientific papers on a wide variety of topics related to eyelid and orbital surgery.
The Lester T. Jones Surgical Anatomy Award is presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Nerad lives in Hyde Park with his family.
