Get to Know Dr. Kaufman
Aaron R. Kaufman, M.D. is a Harvard-trained cornea and cataract surgeon at Cincinnati Eye Institute. His patient-oriented practice style provides exceptional surgical and clinical care.
Dr. Kaufman’s surgical expertise includes cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, LASIK, PRK, pterygium removal and corneal crosslinking for keratoconus. He is currently accepting new patients at Cincinnati Eye Institute’s Blue Ash and University of Cincinnati Medical Arts Building locations.
Dr. Kaufman is a Cincinnati native and is a graduate of Sycamore High School at the top of his class. He completed his B.A. and M.D. degrees at Boston University’s prestigious seven-year liberal arts/medical education program where he received awards for the top academic achievement in both the undergraduate and medical components. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies.
Dr. Kaufman’s ophthalmology residency was at the renowned Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his training with a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Kaufman has received multiple recognitions including the Resident Excellence Award from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, a Heed Fellowship from the Heed Foundation, the Norman P. Blair Research Award, the Abelson Family endowed cornea fellowship award, and the Best Clinical Trainee Research Award in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. He is active in clinical research and has published multiple articles in ophthalmology literature.
Outside of work, Dr. Kaufman enjoys quality time with his family. He and his wife, a special education teacher, are foodies and enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants. They also enjoy travel and spending time outdoors.
