Meet Dr. Shah

Amar Shah, M.D., M.B.A, is a Cataract, Cornea, and Refractive Surgeon at Cincinnati Eye Institute and Co-Director of the Refractive Surgery service at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Shah received his medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University, graduating in the top 10% of his class and was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Shah completed an internship at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, OH followed by ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati, where he was named chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida.

Dr. Shah’s skill and talent was recognized with awards throughout his training, including the University of Cincinnati Graduate Medical Trainee Award of Excellence, which honored his outstanding contributions to patient care and promotion of clinical knowledge. Dr. Shah has published articles in several medical journals and he continues to be active in clinical research to offer the latest technologies and surgical techniques to his patients.

Dr. Shah performs cataract surgery as well as a wide variety of refractive surgeries, including LASIK, PRK, implantable collamer lens (ICL), and refractive lens exchange (RLE). He is trained in the latest techniques in corneal transplantation, including DSAEK and DMEK. Finally, Dr. Shah has a special interest in the medical and surgical management of ocular surface disorders and dry eye disease. He is passionate and driven to provide the best quantity and quality of vision to all of his patients.
