Get to Know Dr. Khoo

Chloe Khoo, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Dr. Khoo moved to the United States to pursue her medical education, bringing a global perspective to her practice. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where she was inducted into the Hobart Amory Hare Honor Society. During her time in Philadelphia, Dr. Khoo completed a year of ocular oncology research under the mentorship of world-renowned ocular oncologist Dr. Shields at Wills Eye Hospital, further strengthening her expertise.

Dr. Khoo completed her ophthalmology residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she served as Chief Resident. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Mervin Zimmerman MD Award for Best Resident. She then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, where she now practices.

As an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Khoo is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists through her work with residents and fellows. She is also an active member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Her research contributions include co-authoring multiple peer-reviewed abstracts and journal articles, with presentations at national scientific meetings.

Dr. Khoo specializes in the medical and surgical management of diseases affecting the retina, macula, and vitreous, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachments, macular hole, macular pucker, retinal vascular diseases, uveitis, and complications of anterior segment surgery. Passionate about delivering compassionate, personalized care to her patients, Dr. Khoo’s global experiences influence her approach to healthcare, blending advanced techniques with a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes. She sees patients at the Blue Ash, Clifton, and Northern Kentucky offices.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Khoo enjoys traveling and exploring new restaurants with her husband, a vascular surgeon. She also stays active with reformer Pilates and Lagree fitness.
