Get to Know Dr. Rolfes

Erin Rolfes, O.D., M.S. originally grew up in Dayton, Ohio. For her undergraduate degree, she moved and attended Saint Louis University to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2013. Dr. Rolfes then returned to Ohio and lived in Columbus while attending The Ohio State University College of Optometry.

After graduating magna cum laude with both a Master’s Degree in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degree in 2017, Dr. Rolfes married her husband and moved to Cincinnati. She practiced at Cincinnati Eye Institute in Edgewood, KY for about 4 years, then moved to Boise, Idaho in 2021, where she worked at two different primary care optometry clinics. Dr. Rolfes moved back to the Cincinnati area in 2024 with an excitement to continue her career again at Cincinnati Eye Institute in Edgewood, KY. She is licensed to practice optometry in both Ohio and Kentucky.

Dr. Rolfes has a specific passion for managing Dry Eye Syndrome and Ocular Surface Disease. She is experienced in managing dry eye patients in various practice settings, including her previous time at Cincinnati Eye Institute. She helped develop and build dry eye protocols at both clinics in Boise, ID during her time there. She has experience with numerous dry eye treatment devices and therapies. She also enjoys managing all ocular disease and practicing primary care optometry.

Dr. Rolfes is a member of the American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry. She has been a member of Ohio Optometric Association and Idaho Optometric Physicians in the past. Erin has experience presenting her Master’s degree research during optometry School at the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting. Erin also participated in co-presenting a lecture at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Ophthalmology conference in 2019.

Dr. Rolfes had a fascination with and admiration for her optometrist and the profession of optometry from a young age. She has worn corrective glasses since age 5, and started wearing contact lenses later in middle school. She enjoys hiking, biking, sipping local brews (both beer and coffee), playing and watching sports, and spending time with her husband and pet labradoodle.
