Get to Know Dr. Newsom

Karissa Newsom, O.D. is an optometrist at Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Newsom has experience in comprehensive eye care including diabetic eye exams, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, ocular emergent exams, and glasses and contact lenses fittings.

Dr. Newsom is a native of Ohio who grew up just outside Cincinnati in the small town of Morrow. She earned her Bachelor of Human Biology degree at Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, OH. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Newsom continued her education by completing an Ocular Disease Residency at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Eye Center. During her residency, she presented several lecture presentations and posters at continuing education events and optometric conferences including the Dayton Veteran Affairs Eye Center, the American Academy of Optometry, and the East West Eye Conference.

In her free time, she enjoys exercising, golfing, pickleball, going to country concerts, and spending time with her fiancé and her cat, Rocket.
