Get to Know Dr. Brafman

Dr. Shana Brafman is the former Co-Director of Contact Lens Specialty Services at North Suburban Vision Consultants, Ltd. in Chicago and former Assistant Clinical Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry and Illinois Eye Institute. She practiced in Chicago for the past 7 years before moving back to her hometown of Cincinnati. Dr. Brafman is an honor’s graduate of Ohio University for her undergraduate degree, completed post baccalaureate pre-medical classes at Northwestern University, and is a Cum Laude graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry for her professional degree. She completed a post-doctoral residency in Contact Lens Specialty Services and Anterior Segment Disease at the Illinois Eye Institute of the Illinois College of Optometry. During her residency, Dr. Brafman gained extensive experience and expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex diseases of the cornea and anterior segment of the eye and those requiring specialized contact lens treatments for such conditions as keratoconus, post-surgical complications, ocular trauma, and congenital eye anomalies.

Additionally, she has provided specialized eye care in such respected institutions as the University of Chicago, department of ophthalmology, cornea and contact lens service, and the Illinois Eye Institute Center for Advanced Eye Care. Dr. Brafman is a Volunteer Clinical Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati. She has served as a committee chairperson for the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Brafman is involved in academic pursuits such as lecturing and research in areas relating to contact lenses and management of cornea and anterior segment eye disease.
